Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee the day-to- day operations of Arndale Bakery’s retail outlet. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the retail team, maintaining high standards of customer service, managing stock and product presentation, supporting sales growth, and ensuring efficient store operations. This role is suited to a hands-on leader who can create a positive team environment and deliver an excellent experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and manage the day-to-day operations of the bakery’s retail outlet.
• Determine the appropriate product range, stock levels, pricing and customer service standards.
• Monitor sales performance, operating costs and financial results to support business growth and profitability.
• Prepare and manage store budgets, sales targets and operational expenditure.
• Develop and implement purchasing, promotional and marketing strategies.
• Manage inventory, place orders and maintain accurate records of stock movements and financial transactions.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, commercial customers and service providers.
• Recruit, train, roster, supervise and evaluate retail employees.
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff while maintaining a positive and productive workplace.
• Ensure customers receive professional service and appropriate advice regarding bakery products and orders.
• Manage customer feedback, complaints and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain high standards of product presentation, store cleanliness and merchandising.
• Ensure the retail outlet complies with food safety, workplace health and safety and other applicable operational requirements.
• Review store procedures and implement improvements to increase efficiency, sales and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with the bakery production team to ensure product availability, quality and timely fulfilment of customer orders.

Requirements

• Diploma-level qualification in retail management, business, hospitality or a related field, or at least three years of relevant management experience.
• Proven experience managing a retail store, bakery, café or similar business.
• Strong leadership skills, including staff supervision, rostering and training.
• Experience managing sales, budgets, stock, purchasing and supplier relationships.
• Excellent customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, workplace health and safety and retail operations.
