Position: Retail Manager

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation

Hours: 38 hours per week

Mode: Full-time

Preston Carpet Court is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our flooring showroom in Preston, Melbourne.

The successful candidate will bring strong retail management experience, together with sound knowledge of flooring products and installation processes. This role will involve leading the showroom team, assisting customers with flooring selections, managing sales and installations, and ensuring a high standard of customer service.

Preston Carpet Court offers a broad range of flooring solutions, including carpets, timber, hybrid, laminate and luxury vinyl flooring, together with window furnishings and related products. The store also provides measure-and-quote and professional installation services.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the flooring showroom, ensuring efficient sales, customer service and store presentation.

• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of flooring products, their features, applications, installation requirements and suitability for different customer needs.

• Advise customers on appropriate flooring solutions, assist with product selection, interpret floor plans and provide guidance based on project requirements and budgets.

• Manage customer orders, quotations, measurements and installation arrangements, ensuring projects progress smoothly from sale through to completion.

• Handle customer enquiries, installation concerns and complaints, coordinating with installers and suppliers to achieve timely and satisfactory resolutions.

• Monitor stock levels, product availability and showroom requirements, and coordinate purchasing where necessary.

• Assist with sales targets, pricing, promotions and budgeting to support store profitability and business objectives.

• Recruit, train, supervise and coordinate showroom staff to maintain high customer service and sales standards.

• Maintain accurate records of sales, stock, customer orders and financial transactions.

• Ensure the showroom and staff comply with company procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant retail standards.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management (preferred but not required)

• Minimum 1 year experience in retail management, preferably within flooring, building products, home improvement or a related industry.

Skills & Other Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of flooring products, materials, applications and installation requirements.

• Ability to understand floor plans, measurements and customer project requirements.

• Demonstrated experience managing staff and coordinating day-to-day retail operations.

• Strong sales, negotiation and customer service skills.

• Experience managing customer complaints and resolving installation or product-related issues professionally.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple customer and installation projects.

• Good understanding of stock control, purchasing, budgeting and retail administration.
