Qualified Engineer (Civil) wanted to work with a local QLD Government business unit! Your new company Hays Specialist Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join a key Queensland Government business unit based on the central Gold Coast. This team contributes to the identification and planning of future transport infrastructure projects while supporting the protection and management of Queensland's state transport corridors. The team delivers feasibility studies, assesses development proposals, and reviews third-party works to ensure the ongoing safety, efficiency, and operational integrity of the state-controlled road network. Your new role Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will assess and manage third-party developments and infrastructure works impacting the State-controlled road network. The role involves providing technical advice, reviewing applications, monitoring compliance, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of road corridor management projects while ensuring legislative and operational requirements are met.

Provide technical engineering advice on development applications and third-party works impacting the state road network. Assess applications for infrastructure installations and activities within State-controlled corridors. Prepare technical reports, stakeholder correspondence, and responses to public and Ministerial enquiries. Monitor development approvals and ensure compliance with legislative requirements and approval conditions. Audit and inspect third-party construction works to verify permit compliance and minimise impacts on road operations. Assist with investigations and responses to public complaints and enquiries relating to development and infrastructure works. Conduct technical assessments and design reviews in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 and Transport Infrastructure Act 1994. Support the planning, design, and delivery of projects to achieve quality outcomes, value for money, and best practice. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure adherence to quality management systems and project governance requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

Hold a current Class C Driver's Licence. Possess a valid Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card). Provide and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for the role. Ability to successfully complete a Criminal History Check as part of the pre-employment screening process. A four-year Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent qualification) accredited under the Washington Accord and recognised by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord standards.
