Japanese speakers with language teaching experience are invited to deliver a Japanese language course for adult learners in a school setting.

LOCATION: In-person, near Altona Meadows, Melbourne DATE: 28 September 2026 - 11 December 2026 REMUNERATION: $55 per hour + superannuation ROLES: Deliver a Japanese language course for adult learners in a school setting. You will work Monday to Friday, 0800–1630 with one-hour meal break.

DUTIES:

  • Deliver a Japanese language course based on existing materials, under the supervision of a Japanese senior teacher
  • Adapt lesson plans, conduct assessments and other administrative duties
  • Review and enhance existing course materials and develop new materials if required
  • Create engaging online activities to consolidate learning

Essential Criteria

  1. Fluent in Japanese.
  2. University-educated, ideally in education, teaching, linguistics or translation
  3. Minimum two years’ experience teaching/tutoring English or Japanese to adults
  4. Sound knowledge of different approaches to language teaching (for Beginners or Advanced students)
  5. Deep understanding of daily life and society in Japan to support effective language teaching
  6. Fluent in written and spoken English (including experience in translation or interpreting)
  7. Familiar in the use of IT in language delivery and course development.
  8. Proven experience in course development
  9. Experience in assessment management and marking
  10. Experience in translation or interpreting is desirable
