Canex has an opportunity for 10 Casual General Labourer, Maintenance and/or Handypersons in Darwin, Northern Territory

The roles can vary and you may be tasked with the following: (full training will be provided)

• Perform general maintenance tasks including minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and patching
• operate basic hand and power tools
• assist with repairs to equipment, doors, windows etc.
• carry out manual labour such as sanding, washing, scraping, light landscaping and cleaning
• clean work areas, maintain tools and ensure safe storage of equipment and materials.
• assist tradespeople including painters, carpenters etc with basic duties as required.
• follow safety procedures and wear appropriate provided PPE
• assist with equipment maintenance.
• cleaning and maintaining worksheds
• assist with equipment setup

For this exciting role you must have a good level of physical fitness, as you are often on your feet and active for the majority of your shift.

Requirements:

• Ready and able to work long shifts (10 to 12 hours a day)
• Be flexible in your approach to work
• A great attitude with your work
• Be neat in tidy
• Be able to work alone or part of a team.

You will be required to work an average of 30 hours per week.

The term of work will be from August, 2026 to August, 2027

You will be paid under the Building and Construction General On-site Award [MA000020] or Hospitality Industry General Award 2020 [MA000009]

• The work will range in pay from an ordinary rate of Level 1 to Level 3 $31.00p/hr up to $40.00+ p/hr
• Working hours will vary from anywhere from 6am to 11pm, 7 days per week.
• Overtime rates will be paid where applicable
• Upskilling & additional allowances may also be paid if you were trained in extra tasks.
