Sports Development Officer – Full Time SALARY $82,000 p.a. plus Superannuation

Edge Fit Stanmore supports community sport in the inner west of Sydney and require a Sports Development Officer. We require a Sports Development Officer to promote sports and skills development, oversee the participation of young people, design and support programs that develop athlete performance, and the enjoyment of sport and physical activity with a focus on football and other team sports. Our gym is a sponsor of the Leichhardt Saints Football Club.

Key Responsibilities The Sports Development Officer will:
• Develop, implement and coordinate structured sports development and participation programs for individuals, teams, groups and prospective school/community participants.


• Assess participant development and identify opportunities for young participants to progress into appropriate training, competition and performance programs in Sydney.


• Plan and coordinate team development sessions, group programs, workshops, community sporting activities and school-based initiatives.


• Liaise with schools, coaches, trainers and community stakeholders to establish and deliver sports participation and development programs.


• Develop and oversee football athlete development pathways from introductory and beginner programs through to intermediate, advanced and competitive football.


• Develop sports and physical activity initiatives aimed at increasing participation and improving participants' sporting skills and performance in football.


• On behalf of our business, connect with local communities, sports organisations and schools to build partnerships, advise teachers and coaches, conduct coaching clinics and training camps.


• Design training exercises to improve skills and conditioning of participants, and for athlete injury recovery.


• Mentor participants and design programs to develop athlete psychology.


• Coach and mentor participants as part of structured sports development programs, analysing performance and providing guidance to improve sporting abilities.


• Gather information to increase our understanding of community sport and recreational issues in our area.
• Ensure sports development activities and programs comply with applicable sporting standards, child-safety requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, organisational policies, and industry requirements.


• Recruit, coordinate, supervise and support program assistants involved in the delivery of our sport development programs.

Qualification & experience Applicants should have:
• A Diploma or higher qualification in sport, recreation, sports coaching, sports development, exercise science, sport and exercise psychology or a related field, or at least 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification;
• At least 1 years' relevant experience in performance training, fitness coaching, sports development, sports program coordination, or related experience;
• Demonstrated experience delivering and/or developing structured football programs, individual and group training or sports development programs for participants with varying abilities and performance goals.
• Experience working with junior or representative football development programs, schools, adult programs and/or community sporting programs.
• Experience with programme design, football-specific conditioning, group coaching, strength testing and athlete monitoring.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A current Working with Children Check or eligibility to obtain one will.
