SUMMARY LT Fresh Produce Pty Ltd, trading as Midwest Vegetables, is a large-scale vegetable farming business in the Geraldton region of Western Australia. The business operates year-round greenhouse production using modern agricultural machinery, automated irrigation and fertigation systems, and supporting farm infrastructure. It produces cucumbers, Shanghai cabbage, ginger and garlic for wholesale markets. The scale and continuity of production require reliable irrigation infrastructure to maintain consistent water delivery across greenhouse and farming areas and minimise interruptions to crop production.

Position Objective The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of irrigation and associated water-delivery systems used across LT Fresh Produce's greenhouse and farming operations. The role focuses on maintaining the reliable operation of pumps, pipelines, valves, filters, drip lines, sprinklers, pressure-control equipment, fertigation components and irrigation controllers. It involves identifying and rectifying system faults, undertaking preventative maintenance and monitoring irrigation system performance to support efficient and consistent water delivery.

DUTIES
• Install, assemble and test irrigation systems and components, including pumps, pipelines, valves, filters, pressure regulators, drip lines, sprinklers, emitters, meters and irrigation controllers, in accordance with established system specifications.
• Inspect irrigation infrastructure and equipment to identify leaks, blockages, pressure or flow irregularities, damaged components and other system faults.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair faults in pumps, pipelines, valves, filtration systems, controllers and associated irrigation equipment, replacing defective components where required.
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance, including cleaning and flushing filters and irrigation lines, checking fittings and connections, and maintaining irrigation equipment in reliable operating condition.
• Operate and monitor existing irrigation and fertigation equipment, including system pressure, flow, distribution and operating cycles, to maintain effective water delivery.
• Set and adjust irrigation controllers, operating times, schedules and water application settings within established production requirements and site conditions.
• Monitor irrigation system performance and water usage, investigate abnormal consumption, pressure loss or uneven distribution, and undertake corrective maintenance where required.
• Install, replace or reposition irrigation lines, emitters, sprinklers, valves and associated components in accordance with established layouts and specifications.
• Respond to irrigation breakdowns and system failures, identify faults and complete repairs or component replacement to minimise operational downtime.
• Maintain records of inspections, servicing, maintenance, faults, repairs and irrigation settings, and carry out irrigation activities in accordance with workplace health and safety, environmental and farm operating procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate:
• Relevant qualification/certification in irrigation, agriculture, horticulture or a related field, or at least two years of relevant industry experience.
• Practical experience in the installation, operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of agricultural irrigation systems.
• Sound knowledge of irrigation equipment and components, including pumps, pipelines, valves, filters, drip irrigation, sprinklers, emitters and irrigation controllers.
• Experience operating and monitoring irrigation and fertigation equipment, including pressure, flow, water distribution and operating cycles.
• Demonstrated ability to inspect and troubleshoot irrigation systems and identify leaks, blockages, pressure or flow irregularities, equipment faults and damaged components.
• Experience undertaking routine servicing and preventative maintenance, including cleaning and flushing irrigation lines and filters, testing equipment and replacing worn or defective components.
• Ability to adjust irrigation controllers, operating times and water application settings in accordance with established production requirements and operating conditions.
• Practical understanding of efficient agricultural water use and the ability to monitor irrigation system performance and identify operational irregularities.
• Ability to maintain accurate records of irrigation operations, inspections, maintenance, faults and repairs.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a farming operation.
