Electrical Estimator

Job description

Your new company

Join one of Australia's leading engineering and manufacturing businesses based in Bendigo, VIC as an Electrical Estimator. With a collaborative culture, a commitment to innovation, and a genuine focus on long-term employee development, this company offers the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale projects while being part of a stable and growing Australian success story.

Your new role

As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of electrical projects by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and associated project requirements. Working closely with engineering, project delivery, procurement, and commercial teams, you will analyse specifications, drawings, and tender documentation to develop comprehensive proposals that align with client requirements, industry standards, and company objectives.

Estimating & Cost Planning
  • Review project specifications, drawings, scope documents, and tender submissions to accurately determine project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and commercially sound cost estimates for electrical installations, switchboards, control systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Evaluate labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs to ensure pricing accuracy and profitability.
  • Develop cost models and estimate assumptions to support bid strategies and project feasibility assessments.
Tendering & Proposal Development
  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit high-quality tenders and proposals within required timeframes.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Clarify technical and commercial requirements with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders where required.
  • Assist in developing value-engineering solutions that enhance project outcomes while maintaining cost efficiency.
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identify potential project risks, cost exposures, and commercial considerations during the tendering process.
  • Recommend practical and cost-effective solutions to mitigate risk and improve project competitiveness.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with relevant electrical standards, codes, regulations, and company policies.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, pricing schedules, and tender submissions.
  • Monitor and update cost databases, supplier pricing information, and historical project data.
  • Prepare estimate summaries, bid reviews, and commercial reports for management and stakeholder review.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and methodologies.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will combine strong electrical industry knowledge with commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. You'll be a proactive problem solver who can balance technical requirements with commercial objectives to deliver accurate, competitive, and profitable project outcomes. Familiarity with electrical systems, installations and industry standards is a must.

What you'll get in return

  • Regional lifestyle with big‑company projects — Enjoy Bendigo’s community feel and work‑life balance while contributing to national‑scale engineering projects.

  • A genuinely supportive culture — Bendigo’s team is known for collaboration, humility, and backing each other to succeed. You’re valued for your expertise, not treated like a number.

  • Room to grow your career — As the business expands, you’ll have opportunities to refine estimating processes, influence project delivery, and step into broader responsibilities.
