Driver for People with Disability

Job description

Driver responsibilities Drivers must:
• have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) number
• have a valid NSW Driving Licence with no suspensions or disqualifications
• hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificates
• be able to clear a NSW Police Check
• possess English language skills sufficient for the effective delivery of ASTP services
• receive clearance from the ASTP before commencing work
• clear a medical to as evidence that they are medically fit to drive
• maintain a good driving record
• carry driver identification at all times
• follow their assigned run card(s)
• meet a high standard of professionalism
• work collaboratively with Assisted Travel Support Officers (ATSOs) to manage students on transport.
• Comply with Code of Conduct
• Ensure that child car seats and boosters are installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
• Be aware of the wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint system (WTORS), should comply with AS/NZS 10542 and always operate as per the manufacturer's instructions.
• Must wear a vest every time a student is transported for the ASTP – not having a vest does not prevent the transportation of a student.

• adherence to child protection requirements
• high moral and ethical standards, particularly in relation to child safety and wellbeing
• clear and open communication with good English skills
• ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
• knowledge of disability services and understanding the needs of people with disability
• deliver reliable services with courtesy and respect, understanding the individual needs of each student
• operating within the terms of the Department of Education Code of Conduct and the Contract Agreement.

Hours Hours are approx 20 hours per week. (4 x hours per day) The hours are only offered during school terms. You would be required to work 2 hours each school Mornings and 2 hours on each School afternoon.
