Exciting Opportunities for Cooks at Baringo Food & Wine Co Baringo Food & Wine Co, a premier dining and catering venue at 283 Station Rd, New Gisborne VIC 3438, invites experienced and creative Cooks to join our vibrant team. We have multiple positions available for culinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook a range of dishes according to set recipes and directions from senior kitchen staff.
• Complete daily food preparation and cooking duties as assigned, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Follow instructions from the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Supervise junior kitchen staff and assist with their training and guidance as needed.
• Estimate daily production needs and check the quality of ingredients and finished dishes.
• Maintain high standards in food preparation, presentation, and portioning.
• Monitor food stock and assist with rotation and storage in line with hygiene regulations.
• Assist with cost control by reducing waste and ensuring efficient use of ingredients.
• Follow hygiene and food safety standards, including correct storage and temperature controls.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely and report any issues promptly.
• Maintain effective communication and teamwork within the kitchen and with front-of-house staff.
• Ensure timely service by managing cooking and preparation schedules.
• Participate in kitchen cleaning routines and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
• Assist in planning for functions and events under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required by management.
Service Responsibilities
• Plate meals during service periods and monitor quality before dishes leave the kitchen.
• Call out orders and coordinate preparation timing to ensure efficient service.
• Prioritise and manage dockets to ensure all meals are prepared promptly.
• Work collaboratively with other cooks to synchronise order completion and minimise delays.
• Ensure all meals meet presentation and quality standards before they are served.
Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar commercial cooking role.
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Passion for food preparation and customer satisfaction.
