CBD Core pty ltd The Contract Administrator will be embedded within our project delivery team at our Parramatta office, working with the senior Contracts Administrator in taking ownership of the contractual framework underpinning our residential construction projects from early works through to practical completion and the defects liability period. The successful applicant will draft, review and administer head contracts and trade subcontract packages, ensuring that all agreements accurately reflect the commercial intent of each project. The role requires the ongoing management of contract correspondence, site instructions, notices and formal communications issued under the relevant contract mechanisms. The Contract Administrator will also assess and process progress payment claims and payment schedules, verify entitlements to variations, and evaluate extension of time claims lodged by subcontractors and head contractors. Task & responsibilities A key aspect of the position involves tracking contractor and subcontractor performance against programme milestones and scope deliverables, identifying non-compliance and preparing recommendations for the senior project team. The successful candidate will coordinate with Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, clients and trade subcontractors to ensure that contractual obligations are understood and fulfilled across all project stakeholders. The role also encompasses the preparation of commercial reports, cost forecasts and contract status summaries for presentation to senior management. The Contract Administrator will support procurement activities including the preparation of tender documentation, assessment of tender returns and recommendation of preferred subcontractors. Additionally, the position involves monitoring project budgets against contractual commitments, identifying contractual risks and contributing to dispute avoidance strategies. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain compliance with all applicable Australian building legislation, workplace health and safety requirements and internal company policies. Qualification & experience Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a closely related discipline. A minimum of two years' experience working as a Contract Administrator within the building and construction industry is essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate hands-on experience administering construction contracts from project award through to final account and close-out. A strong working knowledge of Australian standard forms of contract and commercial management principles within a construction context is required. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the administration of contract variations, progress payment claims, procurement processes and subcontract management. Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are essential, together with strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and construction-specific project management or contract administration software is required.
