Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Youth Mental Health Initiative (YMHI), where you will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 12 to 24 with complex mental health needs. Working in partnership with headspace and broader mental health services, you will provide specialist clinical expertise, helping young people access the right care at the right time while promoting positive mental health outcomes.

In this rewarding role, you will deliver advanced clinical assessments, care coordination, and short-term interventions within a stepped model of care. As a trusted nursing leader, you will provide expert consultation and support to headspace clinicians, strengthening their capacity to respond to complex presentations and enhancing the quality of care delivered to young people. You will also play a key role in facilitating seamless pathways across Child, Youth and Family Mental Health Services, headspace sites, and wider mental health services, ensuring continuity of care and a coordinated approach to treatment and recovery.

What you will bring to the role

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse-Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and current NSW Driver's License and willingness to use same as required for the position.

Minimum five years full-time equivalent post registration experience and post graduate qualifications in Youth Mental Health, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate. Demonstrated advanced skills in mental health assessment, care planning and evidence-based interventions for young people and their families.

Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports, patients and consumers.

Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing-midwifery practice.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and knowledge of the practice development framework to clinical practice.

Demonstrated involvement in the development-change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based Research.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning, particularly across integrated youth mental health models.

Ability to apply clinical expertise in patient-centered consultancy, with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently. Demonstrated ability to work with community stakeholders and partners to coordinator client centered care.
