Our client, Vyasa Group Pty Ltd trading as Ether Homes is a Sydney-based residential building business specialising in bespoke and luxury homes, knockdown-rebuild projects and investment properties. The business manages projects through the residential construction lifecycle, working with clients, architects, designers and other construction professionals from initial planning and development approvals through design coordination, construction and final handover.

As the business continues to deliver customised residential projects, there is an ongoing requirement for accurate technical documentation and drafting support to assist with site planning, civil works, construction coordination, approvals and the implementation of project designs. The position will contribute to the preparation and coordination of drawings and technical documentation associated with residential building projects and ensure that drafting work accurately reflects project requirements and applicable standards.

The client is looking to fill a full-time position for a skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and modifying detailed civil and site-related drawings, interpreting design information, supporting project documentation and working with project and construction personnel to ensure that drawings are accurate, practical and suitable for project implementation.

Minimum Requirements

• Civil engineering diploma or higher qualification.
• At least one year of full-time work experience in a related drafting or construction design field.
• Sound understanding of residential construction documentation, site plans and civil drafting principles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for

• Preparing detailed civil, site and construction drawings, including layouts, mark-ups and preliminary set-outs using AutoCAD and relevant drafting software.
• Reviewing architectural, engineering and project documentation and incorporating relevant information into civil and site drawings.
• Interpreting project requirements, plans, specifications and work instructions and translating them into accurate technical drawings.
• Preparing drawings and documentation required to support planning, development approval, construction and project coordination activities.
• Collecting, reviewing and analysing project information, site measurements and other technical data required for accurate drafting.
• Carrying out drafting-related calculations and applying relevant dimensions, levels, quantities and set-out information to drawings.
• Assisting with estimates of materials and quantities where required and ensuring drawings accurately reflect project specifications and scope.
• Liaising with project managers, builders, architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors to clarify drafting requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Reviewing drawings for accuracy, completeness and consistency before issue to project stakeholders.
• Ensuring drawings and technical documentation comply with applicable building requirements, engineering requirements, Australian Standards and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Attending construction sites when required to collect information, verify site conditions and confirm the accuracy of drawings and proposed works.
• Supporting the construction team by responding to drawing queries, revisions and site-related technical issues.
• Updating and maintaining drawing registers, revisions and project documentation in accordance with business procedures.

To be considered for this role you must have

• Strong AutoCAD drafting skills, with experience preparing accurate technical and site drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil, engineering and construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple drafting requirements and work to project deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, designers, engineers, project managers and construction personnel.
• Understanding of relevant construction standards, codes, regulations and documentation requirements.
