Summary

Our client Punia Trades Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based residential construction business associated with the Punia Homes brand, delivering custom homes and residential building projects across Sydney and surrounding areas. Our client is seeking to add a Carpenter to its construction team, supporting new homes, duplex developments and knock-down rebuilds while maintaining high standards of workmanship, accuracy and reliable project delivery.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Study building plans, drawings and specifications to determine carpentry requirements and construction methods.
• Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other construction materials accurately.
• Construct and erect wall frames, roof framing and other structural timber components.
• Install doors, windows, architraves, skirting boards and other internal timber fixtures.
• Fit exterior wall cladding, fascia panels and associated residential building components.
• Lay sub-flooring, floorboards and other timber flooring systems to required specifications.
• Assemble prepared timber components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
• Construct and install timber framework for new homes, duplexes and residential developments.
• Check completed structures for level, alignment, dimensions and overall structural accuracy.
• Repair, replace and renovate existing timber structures, fixtures and residential building components.
• Select appropriate timber, hardware and materials according to drawings and project requirements.
• Cut and form timber joints using appropriate hand tools and power equipment.
• Construct concrete formwork where required for residential building and construction activities.
• Coordinate carpentry activities with supervisors and other trades to support efficient project delivery.
• Maintain safe, organised work areas and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• AQF Certificate III or IV in Carpentry, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the position.
• A minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience in a Carpenter or closely comparable role.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, measurements and residential building plans accurately.
• Practical experience constructing, erecting and installing timber framing, fixtures and residential structural components.
• Strong competency using carpentry hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately.
• Ability to complete detailed finishing carpentry work while maintaining consistently high standards of workmanship.
• Sound understanding of workplace safety requirements, construction procedures and safe handling of building materials.
• Ability to work effectively within residential construction teams and complete allocated work within project schedules.
