Summary

Our client Ebenezer Day Care is seeking to add an Assistant Educator to their nurturing childcare team in Somerville, WA. As a family-based daycare service, they provide a safe, hygienic and supportive environment where children can learn, play and develop. The role will support daily care, learning activities, family communication and children’s wellbeing within a respectful, inclusive setting.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with preparing materials and environments for daily children’s activities.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play activities.
• Support children with meals, toileting, rest and daily routines.
• Assist educators to implement age-appropriate learning experiences.
• Maintain safe, hygienic and well-presented childcare areas.
• Attend to children’s personal care needs under appropriate supervision.
• Support children’s social, emotional and physical development.
• Encourage positive behaviour and respectful interactions between children.
• Engage children through reading, games, creative play and structured activities.
• Assist with observing and recording children’s developmental progress.
• Communicate respectfully with families regarding children’s daily care and wellbeing.
• Follow workplace health, safety and child protection procedures.
• Adapt care and support to suit individual child needs.
• Work collaboratively with educators to support programme goals.
• Contribute to an inclusive, caring and family-focused daycare environment.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Must hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or a closely related childcare qualification.
• At least two years of relevant childcare experience in a day care, family day care or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to support children’s routines, including meals, hygiene, toileting, rest and supervised play.
• Practical experience assisting with age-appropriate learning activities that support children’s development and wellbeing.
• Sound understanding of childcare safety, hygiene, supervision and child protection responsibilities in an Australian care environment.
• Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, educators and other workplace stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capacity to observe children’s needs and adapt support to suit individual developmental requirements.
• Must be reliable, patient and able to contribute positively to a nurturing family-based childcare setting.
