Asparagus and Vegetable Pickers and Packers – Koo Wee Rup Region, Victoria

Deep Creek Organics is seeking approximately 10 Asparagus and Vegetable Pickers and Packers to assist with the upcoming asparagus, snow pea and vegetable harvest in the Koo Wee Rup region of Victoria.

The positions are expected to commence in September 2026 and continue until approximately mid to late May 2027.

Key duties include:

• Harvesting asparagus, snow peas and other vegetables by hand
• Packing vegetables to quality standards
• Sorting, grading and bunching produce
• General crop maintenance and cleaning duties as required
• Following food safety and workplace procedures

Employment conditions Successful applicants will be offered a minimum of 120 hours of work over each four-week period.

Work is available across Monday to Sunday, depending on crop and weather conditions.

Applicants must be flexible with working hours, as harvest operations are weather dependent. Shifts are generally 8 to 10 hours per day, with start times varying and, at times, commencing as early as 1:00 am.

Employees will be engaged as casual workers and paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020.

Physical requirements This is physically demanding manual work. Applicants must be able to:

• Harvest vegetables by hand in the field
• Walk for extended periods on uneven ground
• Frequently bend, squat and reach
• Lift and carry crates weighing up to 7 kg
• Stand for extended periods while sorting, grading and bunching produce in the packing shed
• Work in a range of weather conditions
• Applicants should have a good level of physical fitness and be able to safely perform repetitive manual tasks throughout the working day.
• Workers must be reliable, flexible, able to follow instructions, maintain attention to detail, and work effectively as part of a team.

Transport Due to varying start times and limited public transport in the area, access to reliable transport to and from the workplace is highly desirable.
